09th Jul 2025
From a conversation inside a rocket factory to reports across the international art and design press, Jacky Tsai’s collaboration with LandSpace brought a new audience to Chang’e Flying to the Moon. This selection brings together the broadcast, print and online coverage of a project that carried his imagery beyond the familiar spaces of the gallery.
CGTN — Inside the Rocket Factory
For CGTN’s Artist Jacky Tsai Reaches for the Stars, presenter Louisa Lee meets Tsai at the factory to explore the ideas behind the painted rocket. The conversation connects his Chinese cultural references and contemporary visual language with the practical challenge of working at aerospace scale.

Options, The Edge Malaysia — The Sky Is Not the Limit
Diana Khoo’s feature in the 9 June 2025 issue of Options gives the project a full-page treatment. A photograph of Tsai beside the painted rocket anchors the page, accompanied by views of the launch and the factory.
The article follows the collaboration with LandSpace, the Chang’e imagery and the experience of translating an artistic idea onto a launch vehicle. It also places the rocket alongside Tsai’s earlier work on ships and the Eastern & Oriental Express, tracing his interest in taking art into unexpected settings.

Artnet — A New Setting for Contemporary Art
Artnet’s Gallery Network feature, published on 9 July 2025, follows the project from the assembly facility to the desert launch site. Its photographs show how the painted surface became part of a working rocket, with engineers and technicians surrounding the artwork.
The feature places the project at the meeting point of mythology and technology, drawing attention to the collaboration required to carry Tsai’s visual language onto an object designed to leave Earth.

Across the International Press
The coverage reached beyond specialist art publications. Reports in design, fashion, culture and engineering presented the rocket through different lenses: the painted surface, the story of Chang’e, the scale of its production and the moment it left the ground.
