Lancôme × Jacky Tsai — The Loong Comes Alive in Hainan

08th Feb 2024

For Lunar New Year 2024, Jacky Tsai’s Lancôme Loong came to life in Hainan through public installations and augmented reality. The project extended the artist’s floral dragon beyond the surface of an artwork and into the spaces around its audience.

At The Cloudscape in Haikou and the Sky Ring Bridge in Haitang Bay, visitors could scan a QR code to activate the Loong on their phones. Developed by AIR Concepts, the AR experience animated Tsai’s artwork against the real surroundings, creating an encounter between the physical installation and its digital counterpart.

The two locations offered different settings for the same visual world: the waterfront architecture of The Cloudscape and the open walkway of the Sky Ring Bridge. Across both, the Loong became a moving presence that visitors could discover through their own screens.
