A Floating Life - Rhapsody & Rebirth, Taipei
TAO Art Space

07th Nov 2022

TAO Art Space is proudly hosting Jacky Tsai’s first solo exhibition in Taipei from October 21, 2022 to January 14, 2023. It is a continuation of his 2021 Fosun Foundation exhibition “Life Fantasy”, hosted in Shanghai. Tsai tailored his exhibition to suit the gallery space within TAO, using “A Floating Life” as the main theme. This theme splits into 2 parts - “A Floating Life - Rhapsody” (October 21, 2022 to November 26) and “A Floating Life - Rebirth” (December 8, 2022 to January 14, 2023), giving Taiwanese art lovers the chance to examine the different aspects of this artist that was born in Shanghai, and based in London.

In the first part “A Floating Life - Rhapsody”, the highlight piece is “A Parody of Jay’s Music” (2019), a piece commissioned by famous singer, musician and art collector Jay Chou. At 8 meters long, it contains sixty songs picked from Jay Chou’s 20-year-long music career, made possible by the close collaboration and discussion between the two artists from different fields, put together in the style of “Along the River During the Qingming Festival”. Tsai was not satisfied with merely a static painting for others to enjoy, and incorporated augmented reality elements and luminescent paint for viewers to engage with.
